2.55:1 Cinemascope, first cinemascope format.
CinemaScope 2.55:1 was the first anamorphic CinemaScope format on 35mm with four-track magnetic sound and smaller perforations. It marked the start of the scope format, which has never disappeared. Previously, there was Cinerama, which was an expensive and cumbersome system. With CinemaScope, the panoramic anamorphic image was simply copied onto 35mm; later, the combination magnetic print with 2.35:1 became the standard image format, again with normal perforations. Cinemas without magnetic sound playback could also show the print in the CinemaScope format with only mono sound. By the late 1970s, the transition to optical Dolby Stereo took place. ________________________________________________________________________________________ A small mistake slipped into the audio track, it says 2 point 55 point one. It should be: 2 point 55 TO one.
