Electrolysis science song
A quick song on electrolysis written for a GCSE group. Positive ions are Cations and they move to the negative electrode which is the Cathode. They are positively charged because they lose an electron before they float away (think of it as they have more positive particles that negative as they have an extra proton than electrons). They move to the Cathode where they gain an electron and become 'normal' again. This is reduction. Negative ions are anions and move to the positive electrode which is the Anode. They are negative because they were given an extra electron before they floated away which makes them negatively charged (think of it as they have more negative particles on them than positive. They have an extra electron that proton). They move to the Anode where that extra electron is taken away so they oxidise.
