Shapton Professional 120 ceramic waterstone : knife sharpening on a well used/abused Yanagiba

In short : -very coarse stone -not porous -does not require soaking This stone works well with a very low pressure. I used 0.2 to 0.6 psi and it cut fast, produced a coarse scratch pattern and suffered no significant hollowing/dishing in 2250 passes. However given the rate that it was building up a slurry with such low pressure it is likely if used on thin bevels it would wear very fast which is likely why it has a reputation for being such a fast wearing stone. As with any stone you have to match the stone, the force used and the amount of water (or other lubricant used) to produce ideal results.
