Have you ever heard of a town called Kostur? Probably not,because Greece renamed it Kastoria. But in the summer of 1903, the people of Kostur fought some of the bloodiest and most extraordinary battles of the entire Ilinden Uprising. This is their story. This is Episode 1 of the Ilinden 1903 series, covering the battles of the Kostur region, where around 2,000 Macedonian insurgents fought the Ottoman army across weeks of intense combat. From the liberation of Klisura to the legendary battle of Chanishte, where 160 fighters held off 5,000 soldiers, this is map animation history at its most dramatic.
