Trains & Tones at: St Albans City, MML, 07/03/26

A decent session spent at St Albans City on the Midland Mainline where we see services from East Midlands Railway and Thameslink. As with the southern section of the Midland Mainline the passenger traffic is busy and chaotic, you will get freight on this section but you'll need to time it right in order to see any. St Albans was built and opened in 1868 by the Midland Railway when they extended their line from St Pancras, when the line was opened it allowed for a large market of Watercress to be opened up which created a healthy trade between St Albans and London, significantly boosting the towns economy. This wasn't the first station to be built in St Albans however, the first station was opened in 1858 by the London and North Western Railway. This was St Albans Abbey. My next station will be St Pancras International which is the southern terminus of the Midland Mainline and subsequently the end of my Midland Mainline series.
