The soul inside fusion music | Karthick Iyer | TEDxIITKharagpur
This video is a part of the talks given at TEDxIITKharagpur 2016, produced independently of the TED conferences. Any kind of music which blends to different genres is called fusion. Since the 90’s many brilliant artists played fusion music. Indo- Soul is the brand of music in which Indian Classical Music is blent with different genres. Fusion is about finding the common ground between indian classical musics and western classical musics as there are, after all, seven swaras and thirteen notes. It is very important to have a meeting of minds who are collaborating together and if it happens a great fusion music is created. Although most of the violinists prefer acoustic violin, Karthick explains why electric violin has some great advantages over acoustic violin. While performing in a band with loud instruments acoustics violin can not match the amplitude and there electric violin comes into picture. Apart from the loud volume, electric violin is very pliant to its tone. Karthick Iyer is a violinist, vocalist and a music composer who started his journey in the mesmerizing world of music at the age of eight. He is the soul behind the 'IndoSoul' music . It is fundamentally Indian but it is universal in approach and appeal. His work is an amalgamation of different instruments and influences. The dexterous mixing of different styles is one of the defining characteristics of Karthick’s music. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
