EDF-Kumaraguru Institutions building a generation of Climate Smart Dairy Entrepreneurs

They say local solutions is the perfect ‘climate action’ answer to the global phenomenon of climate change. Our work in Tamil Nadu with Kumaraguru Institutions with diary entrepreneurs is that ‘local solution’ which can reduce the methane emissions from the Indian dairy sector while keeping it sustainable and profitable for the dairy farmers. Improving animal health, feed practices, and service delivery offers one of the most practical pathways to raise farmer incomes while reducing emissions per litre of milk. In 2025, the Climate Smart Dairy Entrepreneurship Programme by EDF and Kumaraguru Institutions helped build a new generation of climate-smart dairy entrepreneurs. This flagship programme in Tamil Nadu supported 112 entrepreneurs to access training, formal partnerships, and early-stage finance, demonstrating how locally rooted business models can deliver productivity gains and environmental benefits simultaneously. We bring to you the story of some of the entrepreneurs in and around Coimbatore who set up dairy enterprises that was helping local dairy farmers make dairy sustainable.
