Why No One Cares About World Cup 2026...

The 2026 World Cup is the biggest in history. On paper at least… Yet tickets are going unsold. Hotels are half-empty. Three state attorney generals are investigating FIFA over world cup tickets that cost the best part of $10,000 a seat. And the general consensus — if you trust the polling — is that most people state-side just aren't bothered. But rot goes much deeper than that. Commercialism has tainted the sport and destroyed its legacy - 32.3 million people watched England win in 1966. The nation was gripped by Euro 96 which was truly the last time football culture in this country felt genuinely alive. Politics, modernity and the ongoing cost of living crisis have reset the notion of custodianship that underpins club football. And the patriotism and nationalism that made international football important has been poisoned. This all leaves us the fans disconnected from the players, clubs and national teams that out of blind loyalty – we keep giving our time, money and love to. This video is about the death of the shared experience; the lack of national and societal cohesion required for the public to come together in a meaningful way and offers my opinion on why no one cares about World Cup 2026. https://yougov.com/en-us/articles/548... #FIFAWorldCup #WorldCup2026 #WeAre26 ⏱️Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 1:19 The American Indifference 3:10 The Financial Barrier 5:28 The Death of Club Football 7:13 The Game Has Become Boring 8:20 The Last Time It Meant Something 10:10 What Are They Actually Offering Us? 11:55 Outro Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/@coxysmakingv...
