Skifahren auf dem Teufelsberg in Berlin | 1964 ⛷️🏔️❄️

The 112 metre high Teufelsberg in West Berlin was equipped with a ski lift and floodlight masts in 1964 to offer Berliners a unique leisure experience. Thanks to artificial snow from an American company's snow cannons, alpine skiers were able to pursue their hobby in the enclosed city. Beginners had the opportunity to make their first attempts in the snow on the so-called ‘Idiot's Hill’ - either independently or as part of free ski lessons. ‘Keep the tips of your skis together, the ends of your skis apart, your knees slightly bent and your upper body upright.’ And off you go!
