On May 19, 2021, an unprecedented robbery took place in Amsterdam, involving masked assailants, a Brink's vehicle, and chaos in broad daylight. The robbers targeted Schöne Edelmetaal, a historic gold trading company, and stole €14.5 million, including 80 kilos of platinum and various precious metals. The carefully planned robbery culminated in a terrifying police chase. The chase led to the robbers setting cars on fire, exchanging shots with police, and ultimately fleeing to a small village outside Amsterdam. A confrontation ensued, in which one robber, Osiris Diawara, was killed. Most of the robbers were arrested and sentenced to substantial prison terms, while one remains at large.
