On one of the first streets I turned on, I spotted this house where the grass had gotten so tall you could barely make out the windows or the front door from the street. So I went up and knocked and didn't get an answer, but something felt off about just walking away. There were decorations that looked like they'd been put up pretty recently, and there was a camera right above the door that was still plugged in, so it wasn't totally clear if someone was living there or not. I decided to go talk to a few neighbors to see if anyone knew what was going on. Most of them didn't answer, but luckily the last door I knocked on, a woman answered through her doorbell camera. She told me the place had been vacant for quite some time. She didn't know the owner, didn't know the last time it had been cut, and said it was really starting to bring the neighborhood down. So I decided to go ahead and get it cleaned up. I started with the edger along the sidewalks and curb out front, and it actually went pretty smoothly and turned out the sidewalks looked almost new underneath.
