👉Iran has suspended peace negotiations with the United States for a few days as it holds funeral services for its late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, who was assassinated on February 28 in a joint US-Israeli attack. The funeral rites will last six days, from July 4 to 9, and will be attended by Iranian officials and representatives from other countries. Ali Khamenei's body has been taken to the Grand Mosalla Mosque in Tehran. The coffin, draped with the Iranian flag, was carried into the mosque by members of the Revolutionary Guard and religious personnel, amidst an exceptional security deployment. Iranian authorities expect millions of attendees and have confirmed the presence of delegations from up to one hundred countries, including at least eight heads of government and numerous speakers of parliament. The arrival of these delegations has led the army to declare “maximum alert,” reinforcing borders, airspace, and checkpoints in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad.
