Could fungus be a serious structural material for the 21st century? Ben Sharp is developing production techniques and applications for fungus that could could provide strong, lightweight, fire-retardant and eco-friendly materials for houses, cars, packaging and more… Ben Sharp is passionate about the intersection of science, innovation and entrepreneurship. He recently founded Mycovative, a small Perth-based biotechnology startup exploring the potential that fungi has as bioremediators and biomaterials. He encourages young scientists to pursue a less conventional pathway and explore business ventures that utilise a science background.
