On the Wings of Eagles As we enjoy today’s eagle moments in the nest, we reflect on the beauty that this year’s family brings to all of us. From the first lost clutch to the simple joy of watching Sandy & Luna along with their parents Jackie & Shadow, we are reminded of nature’s unpredictability and resilience. Every day when we tune in, we learn, we write, we read, we share stories. Through our eagle family, this experience brings us all a deep and emotional connection with one another. Their daily antics, fishing trips, disputes and quirkiness helps us to all relate to our own humanness and tenacity. Today we enjoyed a fish delivery by Jackie, celebrated with squees by Sandy & Luna before they engaged in a round of tug ‘o fish. We witnessed a gentle stick delivery by Shadow while the kids nibbled on the earlier catch, and a poignant moment when Jackie fed her babies. Wingers and jumps by both Sandy & Luna showed us their continued strength and skills, and a cam close up by Luna was a scene stealer. Don’t we all just love them so much? Although Sandy Steers now soars on the wings of Big Bear’s eagles in spirit, today and beyond we all soar together with her beloved eagle residents Jackie, Shadow, Sandy & Luna and those who came before them. And we do because she has taught us that nature and humans are inherently connected. We at Friends of Big Bear Valley are honored to share in Sandy’s vision. And to our supporters and followers, she loved bringing Jackie & Shadow’s lives and home into yours. Thank you Sandy, for allowing us all to be part of this essential community, where we all come together as one with our shared identities and love of the eagles.
