Our Pioneers - The History of Loma Linda University Health

Loma Linda was established on Aug. 26, 1905 as Loma Linda Sanitarium thanks to the visionary efforts of Seventh-day Adventist pioneer, Ellen G. White. Over the past 100 years, we have always focused on our mission “to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ” and applying whole person care to every patient. Loma Linda University Health is an academic medical center operating six hospitals, a physician practice corporation, remote clinics in the western United States, and affiliate organizations around the world. These medical services interact with the eight schools that make up our healthcare focused university. This mutual pursuit of excellence leads to outstanding care for our patients and great learning opportunities for our students.
