ANTES DE SER FINALISTA DO THE VOICE ELA OUVIU QUE DEVERIA LAVAR BANHEIRO | Histórias de ter.a.pia
The pandemic almost took Amanda's life. She survived, but nearly lost what she loved most: her voice. For a singer, hearing that she would never sing again was like losing part of her own identity. Amanda had been singing professionally since she was 17 when, in 2020, she contracted Covid-19. Complications came quickly. Asthmatic, she arrived at the hospital with only 40% oxygen saturation and already showed signs of mental confusion. In a short time, she needed to be intubated. The procedure left a scar on her vocal cords. Recovery was slow and painful. She lost weight, needed to use a wheelchair, and depended on help even to shower. Her voice, once firm, now came out trembling and insecure. As if that weren't enough, Amanda lost 37% of the hearing in her left ear and began to face motor difficulties that made her own body seem strange. When she decided to seek treatment to sing again, she found some professionals who said they didn't know how to help her. Others went further: they claimed her voice would never return. One of them even suggested she give up music and look for a job as a cleaner, in an obvious racist comment. But she didn't let it go! Supported by her faith, her family, and the speech therapist who believed in her, she began a long rehabilitation that gradually restored what seemed lost. First came the movements. Then, some musical notes and, finally, the voice. In 2023, Amanda took to the stage of The Voice Brasil. She signed up for the program to celebrate life, as someone who had gotten back on her feet. Amanda turned all four chairs and finished the competition in second place! Since then, she has sung in and outside of Brazil, participated in projects alongside great artists like Seu Jorge, and seen her name appear in places she never imagined reaching during the days when she couldn't even shower alone. She learned that starting over doesn't always mean going back to what she was before. Sometimes, it means coming back stronger. Some people get a second chance, and Amanda turned hers into music.
