Panama's Canopy Camp The Darien Adventure with Erik Bruhnke
Lovely Panama, among the world’s most biodiverse countries, is a “must visit” destination for birders. In particular, the lowland forest of the Darien region stands out. Here, in easternmost Panama, an extravagance of tropical birds representing Central and South American avifauna is complemented by an equally remarkable blend of habitats from dense rainforests to winding waterways—all filled with hawks, eagles, macaws, hummingbirds, trogons, tanagers, and much more. VENT visits the Darien twice a year, and the centerpiece of our tours is a stay at the unique Canopy Camp. Featuring a luxurious Africa-style tent-lodging experience, the camp serves as a marvelous base for exploring this overlooked corner of Central America. Join VENT tour leader Erik Bruhnke as he showcases the natural history wonders of the Darien and the unique qualities of the Canopy Camp. Whether birding by dugout canoe, taking a casual stroll along rainforest roads, seeking the renowned Harpy Eagle, or simply savoring the oasis of the Camp, birding the Darien region of Panama is sure to captivate.
