Cherambatta Kavu Temple Cherambatta Kavu Temple Information - Pooram Festival The Cherambatta Kavu Temple is located on the Kothakurissi-Chalavara road in Ananganady village in Palakkad district of Kerala. The deity is Durga Devi. The darshan of Cherambatta Kavu Bhagavathy is towards the north. The sub-deities of the temple are Rakshas, ​​Kshetrapala and Nagaraja. The annual festival of the temple begins on the Chothi Nakshatra of the month of Meenam (March - April). Arattu is performed on the fifth day from the Chothi Nakshatra. The famous Cherambatta Kavu Pooram festival is held on the sixth day from the Chothi Nakshatra of the month of Meenam. Around 50 elephants participate in the Pooram festival. It is a small temple with a square shrine covered with Panchalohat. There is also a flagpole (kodimara). The annual festival is famous for its decorated elephants, Panchavadyam, Pandi Melam, processions, Tantric pujas and rituals. Kalavela (a statue of a double bull is dragged into the temple) is a part of the festival. Tall ornate structures with sculptures of the goddess are taken to the temple. Traditional art forms of Kerala, tableaus, beautifully decorated characters from Hindu mythology, Thira, Poothan and processions are also part of the annual festival.
