SoCal Winter? More Like Summer! | Doheny Beach Day

From snow-covered mountains to a sunny beach day… this is winter in Southern California. In this episode of Rocks to Reefs, we leave the high desert of Hesperia and head toward the coast for a day at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point. Along the drive, the mountains are covered in fresh snow — a reminder that it’s the middle of February. But by the time we reach the ocean, the temperature is around 70° and it feels more like summer than winter. After arriving at Doheny, we unload the surfboard, set up our spot on the sand, and enjoy a beautiful day by the water. The conditions were calm and the surf was very flat — I only managed to catch three waves — but sometimes it’s not about the surf, it’s about being out there and enjoying the ocean. To wrap up the day, we grab dinner and a couple of beers at the Doho Café and finish the evening with a drone flight over the stunning Dana Point Harbor. Winter desert. Snowy mountains. Sunny beach. Only in California.
