The church bells of St Petrox, Dartmouth, Devon
St Petrox church lies at the mouth of the River Dart and holds a prominent position alongside Dartmouth Castle. The ring of six are quite nice, and are well maintained. 5 of the bells are from the Whitechapel Foundry dated from 1754 through to 1812 and the Treble is dated 1925 and is by John Taylor & Co of Loughborough. They have recently, as of August 2020 had their clappers and crownstaples restored. The bells hang in a superb oak frame by William Aggett which is also dated 1925. The bells go well, and are good acoustically in the ringing room which is at ground floor level. We hear the bells being risen and then go through a selection of call changes.
