Today we are diving into one of the BIGGEST music events in the world that I knew almost NOTHING about until now... EUROVISION! 🤯 In this video, I'm reacting to the TOP 100 MOST STREAMED EUROVISION SONGS from 1956 to 2023 on Spotify, and let me tell you... my mind is BLOWN! 🎵✨ As an American living in Europe, I had heard of Eurovision but never actually understood what it was. Is it a singing contest? A dance competition? A choreography showdown? A fashion runway? After watching this video, I think the answer is... ALL OF THE ABOVE! 😂 From slow emotional ballads to hip-hop dance bangers, from rock anthems to traditional folk performances, Eurovision has it ALL! 🇸🇪 SWEDEN absolutely DOMINATING the top 10 (seriously, how do they do it?!) 🇳🇴 NORWAY producing some of the WILDEST and most unique songs I've ever heard 🇵🇱 POLAND showing up strong as always 🇮🇸 ICELAND with what looked like a TRADITIONAL instrument that blew me away 🇫🇷 FRANCE taking first place back in 1965 with an ICONIC performance 🇧🇪 BELGIUM, 🇹🇷 TURKEY, 🇫🇮 FINLAND, 🇺🇦 UKRAINE, 🇦🇹 AUSTRIA and SO many more! One thing I'm STILL confused about... why are AUSTRALIA and ISRAEL in EUROVISION?! 🤔 I thought "Euro" meant Europe?! If anyone can explain this to me in the comments, I would seriously appreciate it because I am LOST! 😅 The CRAZIEST part of this whole video for me was seeing how Eurovision has evolved over the decades. The 1950s and 1960s performances were pure RAW vocal talent... a guy standing on stage giving his ENTIRE HEART to a song with no fancy lights, no choreography, just pure emotion. Fast forward to today and Eurovision is a full-blown SPECTACLE with insane outfits, wild choreography, pyrotechnics, and performances that look more like Vegas shows than singing competitions! The evolution is INCREDIBLE to watch! I have to admit something embarrassing... I didn't recognize a SINGLE song until we hit the top 10! 😭 As an American, Eurovision just isn't part of our culture, and I feel like I've been MISSING OUT my entire life! The fact that this contest has been going on since 1956 is mind-blowing to me. That's almost 70 YEARS of European music history, and I'm only now discovering it! Some of the standout moments for me: 🎤 The 1958 performance where the guy was pouring his SOUL into every word 🎤 Norway's "Give That Wolf a Banana" which had me genuinely confused but obsessed This video honestly opened my eyes to how DIFFERENT European music culture is from American music culture. In the US, we have award shows like the Grammys and the VMAs, but we don't have anything that brings together SO many different countries, languages, styles, and traditions all in one place. Eurovision is truly a CELEBRATION of European diversity, and I love that about it!
