El robo de las manos de Perón: una historia macabra Ep. 55 ¿Qué pasó con lo que pasó? #janiot

November is a highly symbolic and significant month for Argentine politics due to two events that forever marked the country's history. Not only was it the month in 1972 when Juan Domingo Perón made his massive return to Argentina after 19 years, but it was also the month in 1974 when Eva Perón's remains were returned to the South American nation after 19 years of disappearance. That's why in "What Happened to What Happened?" I wanted to explore one of the most mysterious, macabre, and enigmatic events not only in Argentina, but perhaps in all of Latin American politics: the theft of the hands from the corpse of the iconic former Argentine president, General Juan Domingo Perón. On June 29, 1987, a group of people, who remain anonymous, entered the Chacarita Cemetery and desecrated Perón's tomb, cutting off his hands and making them disappear forever. It's a case riddled with inconsistencies, mysterious deaths surrounding the investigation, and a possible connection to an Italian mobster and the return of Eva Perón's body to Argentina. In this program, we seek answers to questions such as: What happened to Perón's hands? Was it revenge for a broken promise? By whom? What promise did Perón make that could have started all this? Why remains unsolved? To help us answer these and many more questions, I speak with David Cox and Damián Nabot, the journalists who thoroughly investigated this macabre case and its grim details in two books: Perón, the Other Death and The Second Death. I also have Rolando González Bunster as a guest, the son of Juan Domingo Perón's personal representative. Rolando had a close relationship with Perón, and in this program, he shares his memories of him among his inner circle.
