This village is most famous for its small village section where traditional Japanese houses, namely gasshō-zukuri, stand. Gassho-zukuri has a very unique architecture. The house is made entirely of wood with a steep thatched roof. In Shirakawa-Go there are more than 50 Gassho-zukuri style houses spread throughout the village area. Together with Gakoyama, which is also a traditional village, Shirakawa-go was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. This village is located in Ono District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The location is about 375 km to the east of the Japanese capital, Tokyo. Shirakawa-go has 4 seasons. These four seasons have very beautiful views, we can see flowers blooming in spring, green views in summer, leaves drying in autumn, and heavy snow in winter. There are several spots in Shirakawa-go, starting from Ogimachi Village, Deai-bashi Bridge, Kanda House, Wada House to Hachiman Shirakawa Shrine. Hachiman Shirakawa Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Ogimachi Village. Meanwhile, Deai-bashi Bridge is the entrance to Shirakawa-go. In Sirakawago there is also 1 restaurant which is quite unique, called Ochiudo. Receiving a rating of 4.8 from Google, this small restaurant only has 3 food menus on offer: curry rice, toasted bread with margarine & red beans and zensai (read bean dessert soup) with sticky rice.
