Without bothering to consult his wife Molly (Kate Hudson from Almost Famous and Bride Wars), Carl offers his friend a place to stay for a few days. The days stretch into weeks, without Dupree doing anything to improve his situation. On the contrary, his retarded teenage gaffes and irreverent behaviour undermine the newlyweds' peace of mind a little more each day. His presence is all the more burdensome because on the professional front, Carl is mocked by his powerful boss, Molly's father, who never misses an opportunity to let him know that he's not up to the job.
