Roma, controllori fissi a bordo dei bus: "Tutto inutile, ecco cosa fa chi è senza biglietto"

ATAC has begun testing permanent on-board inspectors on five city lines. In an effort to curb ticket evasion, which is among the most widespread in Italy in Rome, the municipal transport company has decided to station three inspectors on selected routes across five lines (046, 047, 507, 106, and 107). They remain on the bus from one terminus to the next to verify that passengers have a ticket. The problem, as off-duty inspectors tell us, is that: "We have to tell those who are boarding: 'Do you have a ticket? If you don't, you can't get on! You have to go buy one,' but if that person gets on the next bus, they still get on without paying." In fact, on another line where the service isn't available, or on another journey on the same line, they won't find the inspectors, who are busy on the previous bus from which they can't get off, and can easily board without a ticket.
