𝗛𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗟𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗚, 𝗣𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗜𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗜𝗕𝗘𝗧 Tawang | July 8 | Newz O’clock Hundreds of people participated in a peaceful candlelight march in Tawang on Wednesday evening to express solidarity with the Tibetan people and pay tribute to Lobga Rangzen, who died after carrying out a self-immolation protest outside the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The march began at 3:30 PM from Buddha Park and concluded at Gyawai Phodrang (Old Market). Carrying candles, participants walked in silence, calling for peace, justice, and the protection of Tibetan religion, culture, language, and identity. According to organisers, Rangzen carried out the protest to draw international attention to Tibet and oppose Chinese rule. Before the act, he reportedly displayed the Tibetan flag, distributed leaflets calling for Tibetan unity and independence, and released a video message urging Tibetans worldwide to continue their peaceful struggle. He later succumbed to his burn injuries. The march was jointly initiated by the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society, All Tawang District Youth Organisation (ATDYO), Mon Darti Educational & Cultural Society, Former TCV Students’ Association, Students for Free Tibet, All Rheb-La Gangsum Students’ Union, and the Mon Tawang Lhakar Gorshey Group. Students, monks, youth leaders, social activists, and members of the public took part in the procession. The event concluded with a moment of silence and prayers at Gyawai Phodrang, reaffirming support for the Tibetan people’s peaceful struggle and reflecting the long-standing cultural and spiritual ties between Tawang and Tibet.
