Kedawung Charter 2001

In this video, we see steam locos No. 14 and No. 16 at Kedawung sugar mill. No. 14 is a standard 0-8-0T+T Orenstein & Koppel loco while No.16 was a unique Breda 0-6-0T (certainly in terms of survivors) which once worked for the Solo Waterworks (I believe). On a Rob Dickinson tour (as this was) it was normal to charter the Breda but it wasn't operable that time so we had No. 14 instead with the Breda pulled out for photographs. I'm not sure what else was planned but the O&K loco blew a tube quite dramatically filling the loco cab with steam and that was 'all over for the day'. I seem to remember that the crew were not injured when this happened although bad burns are possible on these occasions. Eventually when the steam subsided, the loco was able to move back to the shed using its remaining steam pressure.
