Queen Letizia, Honorary President of UNICEF Spain and the organization's Global Advocate for Children's and Adolescents' Mental Health, presided over the institutional event for "World Mental Health Day 2022," which will be celebrated on October 10. The theme proposed by the World Federation for Mental Health was mental health and well-being for all people as a global priority, with a particular focus on children, adolescents, and young people. Upon her arrival, Her Majesty the Queen was received by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, and the President of the Spanish Confederation for Mental Health, Nel González Zapico. After the greetings, Queen Letizia entered the auditorium and took her place for the start of the event, which began with a performance of the song "Detrás de cada luz" (Behind Every Light) by Nena Daconte. The master of ceremonies then welcomed everyone and announced the remarks of Her Majesty the Queen, who warned that "the boom in the global public conversation about mental health can be, and should be, the beginning of the collective response that the societies in which we live need. I hope so." Queen Letizia stated that "experts agree that there are no single solutions, nor are they easy, and that addressing them requires a complex and multidisciplinary approach, with analyses and data disaggregated by gender, and that effective measures must be combined across all sectors—healthcare, education (schools), family, social services—and, of course, with a human rights perspective that encompasses a comprehensive model." Because “working on mental health prevention (and all that entails) is the best investment,” according to Her Majesty the Queen, who added that “if we talk about young people, it is clear that unemployment and lack of opportunities, social vulnerability, and poverty are also factors associated with the risk of developing a mental disorder. In other words, the well-being or mental distress of people of any age and any condition is something that matters to us all and affects us all.” Next, the president of the Spanish Mental Health Confederation spoke, and subsequently Jonathan Yuste and Ana María Martínez, representatives of the First-Person Mental Health Committee and the State Network of Women of the Spanish Mental Health Confederation, read the World Mental Health Day Manifesto. The event continued with a speech by the Minister of Health and an interview with Mai Meneses, singer and songwriter, conducted by journalist Macarena Berlín, who acted as master of ceremonies. To conclude the event, Nena Daconte performed the songs "Idiota" and "Tenía tanto que darte." Following the event, Her Majesty the Queen met with the attendees.
