An official of the #NationalHighwayAuthority said that the new motorway would be beginning from the end-point of the #Lahore to #Sialkot Motorway at #Sambrial, hence giving Kharian a motorway connectivity to Lahore. The Lahore-Sialkot motorway is also built on the BOT model and the project would be reducing the distance between Lahore and Sialkot and would also be providing connectivity to remote areas with big cities. The mega project would not just be providing faster inter-city traveling but would also enhance economic conditions of the area. It would also be opening multiple opportunities for employment in the region. The Lahore-Sialkot motorway would be starting from #Sahowala-Sambrial and would be ending at #KalaShahKaku passing through #Daska, #Kamonki, and #Gujranwala. Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (LSM - M11) is north-south Motorway in Punjab, Pakistan, which is connecting Lahore to Sialkot via eastern parts of the Punjab.This project was completely opened on 18-March 2020 at the cost of 44 billion rupees. It is reducing the travel time between Sialkot and Lahore to just 50 minutes instead of alternative route via N5 / GT Road comprising 145 km and taking more than 2 hours. It consists of two lanes on each side whereas there are 7 interchanges in total namely Kala Shah Kaku, Muridke, Narowal, Gujranwala, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial. History The LSM was conceived by the ex-Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, in 2006 and its foundation stone was laid in 2007 by the ex-President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, but no actual work was started. According to the original plan, the LSM would have been opened to the public in 2010 but the Government of Punjab shelved the project due to non-availability of funds. The ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, re-ordered construction of the LSM. The National Highway Authority (NHA) shortlisted only two companies — Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and a foreign firm for undertaking this project. This road will uplift the Sialkot city and the surrounding rural hinterlands. Sialkot Motorway is first portion of M-11 which will run parallel to M-2 from Lahore to Islamabad. In next phase of M-11 Sambrial (Sialkot) To Kharian (Gujrat) will be constructed and final phase will be Kharian (Gujrat) to Rawat (Rawalpindi Ring Road).
