Formed in 1991, the legendary ACID BATH blended elements of Southern gothic rock and psychedelic influences with sludge and death metal, all accompanied by lyrics evoking surreal and psychological imagery. They burst onto the New Orleans, Louisiana metal scene as outsiders, quickly achieving a cult status that endures to this day—placing them alongside bands like CROWBAR, TROUBLE, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, or DOWN. ACID BATH’s influence on the modern international metal scene remains undeniable, particularly thanks to their seminal 1994 album *When The Kite String Pops*, which left a lasting mark on an entire generation. Sadly, the band—fronted by Dax Riggs—disbanded in 1997 following the accidental death of bassist Audie Pitre, who was killed by a drunk driver on a Sunday afternoon. Sammy Duet went on to form the excellent band GOATWHORE (a superb US thrash/black/death/groove metal act), while Dax Riggs and Mike Sanchez launched AGENTS OF OBLIVION. Riggs also worked with DEADBOY AND THE ELEPHANTMEN and releases music under his own name. In 2025, ACID BATH reunited to perform live for the first time in 28 years !!! Their unexpected comeback was met with unprecedented fervor, sparking a new level of excitement among their existing fanbase and attracting a whole new generation of listeners. With appearances at major US festivals and sold-out shows across the country throughout 2025, ACID BATH’s resurgence continues into 2026, marking one of the year's most anticipated events in heavy music.
