MacBride Waterfront Trolley

Here we visited the MacBride Waterfront Trolley in Whitehorse, YT. This little trolley runs in the summers along a 1/2 mile stretch of the White Pass and Yukon's narrow gauge around the Whitehorse Depot and waterfront. This trolley (car number 531) was built back in 1925 for a streetcar operator in Spain and was uniquely built to where the body was built to standard gauge specifications, however the route it was being used on was narrow gauge. By the 1970s, the trolly was getting too small and old to use for regular commuter services and was retired and sold to a museum in Minnesota along with a sister car for display. In 1999, the trolley was sold to the City of Whitehorse to use for tourist service tours along the Yukon River Waterfront. Other than a pause in operations from 2018-2024, the trolley has been running every summer.
