Read many positive reviews about kambing soup being sold at Upper Boon Keng Hawker Centre. Decided to cycle there to have a taste and its likely the best mutton soup I ever had. It is primarily made with goat meat (often bone-in), although mutton or lamb can also be used, while some versions may contain various animal innards as well. The meat is typically simmered in water with vegetables, garlic, ginger, and spices such as coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, fennel, turmeric, and cardamom. Once cooked, the soup is usually topped with crispy fried shallots and fresh coriander, an ingredient that imbues the dish with flavor and gives it its signature yellowish-green hue. Rich and warming, the soup is usually accompanied by slices of white bread, roti canai, or roti Bengali on the side. Boon Keng Info: Boon Keng (Chinese: 文庆, Tamil: பூன் கெங்) is a subzone within the planning area of Kallang, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). The smallest in terms of physical area among the nine subzones that make up Kallang, Boon Keng is bounded by the Pelton Canal in the north; the Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) and Sims Way in the east; Sims Avenue in the south; and the Kallang River in the west. Primarily residential, this area is served by Kallang MRT station along the East West Line. A plot of land at Lorong 3 Geylang is slated for future development into a new residential precinct.
