Hava Divon is an Israeli screenwriter and filmmaker, a graduate of the Ma’ale Film School in Jerusalem. She is known as one of the producers of the successful series “Srougim,” which won the Israel Television Academy Awards, and later wrote and produced additional works for film and television. “Disengagement” is an Israeli drama series on Kan 11. It was created by Hava Divon and Ram Landes, and deals with one of the most painful and divisive episodes in the history of Israeli society: the evacuation of Gush Katif in 2005. The series follows a national-religious officer who is required to participate in the evacuation, as he is torn between his military duty, his loyalty to the state, his religious world, and the family and emotional price he pays. Through a personal and family story, the series reopens the wound of the disengagement, not only as a political event, but as a deep Israeli trauma, in which home, faith, army, state, and Jewish-Israeli identity collide with each other.
