Profile The group's name is a combination of the words "rap-gagari-ya" (a person who wants to rap anytime, anywhere) and "rapper-hunter" (a person who hunts down bad MCs). Formed in 1993 with Yoshizo Miyoshi, the group later expanded to include Q, Yamada Man, and DJ Toshi. In 1995, the first installment of "Yabasugiru Skill," a landmark classic series in Japanese rap that continued to expand to 11 installments, was included on the legendary compilation album "Akumyo." Its striking rhyming style garnered immediate attention. In 1998, the group released their first album, "SUPER HARD," which, despite being an indie release, sold approximately 70,000 copies. In 2000, their collaboration with Dragon Ash, "Deep Impact feat. Rappagariya," reached No. 2 on the Oricon charts and achieved cumulative sales of over a million copies. That same year, they released their second album, "Rappagariya Densetsu," featuring their signature track, "Do the GARIYA thing." Featuring MACCHO, TWIGY, and ZEEBRA, they have sold over 200,000 copies and established themselves as a staple in the Japanese rap scene. They also performed at ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL. In 2003, Rappagariya's NORINA was selected to perform the theme song for the annual hip-hop festival B-BOY PARK 2003, captivating the audience with a stunning finale. In recent years, they released the albums "ULTRA HARD" in 2017 and "CHALLENGER" in 2023. From 2021 to 2022, they were regular performers at DIAMOND FES, held at Zepp TOKYO, Zepp Haneda, Zepp Namba, and KT Zepp Yokohama, and in 2023, they will perform at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '23, one of Japan's largest festivals. In 2025, they participated in the rock band ASH DA HERO's album and performed at "MEETS THE REGGAE" at the Hattori Ryokuchi Outdoor Concert Hall in Osaka, furthering their genre-crossing activities.
