🚢 DISASTER WE MISSED THE FERRY! How to Get the Ferry from GRAN CANARIA to TENERIFE (What NOT to Do!)

In this video, Mr TravelON shows you exactly how to get from Gran Canaria to Tenerife by ferry — and more importantly, what not to do. This one’s a travel day gone wrong (thanks to a chaotic car hire mess with CICAR) that nearly ended in disaster. But… Mr TravelON makes the mistakes so you don’t have to. ⚠️ Missed ferries, wrong ports, and zero help from the car hire company. This travel day was STRESSFUL — but also incredibly useful for anyone trying to figure out the best way to travel from Gran Canaria to Tenerife by ferry. 🚢 How to Get the Ferry from Gran Canaria to Tenerife There are two main ferry companies that operate between Gran Canaria and Tenerife: Fred Olsen Express: Departs from Puerto de las Nieves in Agaete (northwest Gran Canaria) and arrives in Santa Cruz de Tenerife Naviera Armas: Departs from Puerto de La Luz in Las Palmas city and also arrives in Santa Cruz de Tenerife ✅ If you're booking with Armas, you'll be sailing from the main port in Las Palmas. ✅ If you're booking with Fred Olsen, you'll need to head to Agaete, which is about a 40-minute drive from Las Palmas city. 🚗 Car Hire Confusion: Don’t Make Our Mistake! We were wrongly advised multiple times by the car hire company to drop off our car in Las Palmas for a Fred Olsen sailing — even though Fred Olsen doesn’t depart from there! It led to city-centre chaos, unhelpful staff, and us missing our ferry by minutes. 😡 Key Travel Tip: Always double-check your ferry departure port — and never rely solely on car hire staff for directions. This mistake cost us money, time, and a whole load of stress. ⛴️ Booking the Ferry: Fred Olsen vs Armas Fred Olsen: Generally faster (~80 minutes), newer boats, and a smoother ride — but departs from Agaete. Naviera Armas: Slower (~2.5 hours), but sails from Las Palmas, which is more central. Both allow passenger and vehicle transport, and you can book online in advance.
