PERSONAGENS & SEUS DUBLADORES #11 | LEÔNCIO

Welcome to the Extraordinary Voices dubbing collection, how are you all doing? In today's video, I bring you a list containing ALL the Brazilian voice actors who have given voice to one of the most beloved antagonists in the history of cartoons: Leôncio, from Woody Woodpecker! Leôncio - or Wally Walrus, in the original - is a character created by Walter Lantz in 1944 to be used in several of the animator's cartoons. His greatest prominence was in the first series of Woody Woodpecker animated shorts, although he was also present in Andy Panda and Chilly Willy. He is a walrus of Swedish nationality, and is one of the biggest victims of Woody Woodpecker's madness in the episodes. From the middle to the end of the series, the animators removed the tusks from the character's design, leaving him with a more human appearance. In the 1999 series, the tusks return along with the character's characteristic. In Brazil, Leôncio has had several voice actors in dubbing. Interestingly, in the classic shorts, he was mainly dubbed by a man who was neither a voice actor nor Brazilian. His name was Julio Munício Torres, who worked as a manager at the BKS studios. Observing that his accent would greatly enhance the character, director Garcia Neto cast him, and this was his only dubbing role. Initially, Leôncio was portrayed with Julio's Spanish accent, which differed from the original work. In the 1999 series, this was corrected by voice actor Domício Costa, who brilliantly portrayed the character with a typical Swedish accent. Several other voice actors from our dubbing industry have played the character over the years. It's well worth checking out the different interpretations by the Brazilian actors!
