Started this class 6/26 - ended on 7/8 Prebrief was 7/2 for 2 hrs Debrief 7/8 for 2hrs with a ten minute break Requirements for this class: 1. End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) 2. Essential Clinical Skills: -Electrocardiogram, cardiac monitoring -Closed Chest Drainage -Individual Protective Equipment -Endotracheal Tube Intubation: Orotracheal, Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia(VAP) Prevention -Care Transition 4. Shadow Health Assignments: Shadow Health Digital Clinical Experience - Advanced Nursing Skills - D453. Focused Exam: End of Life - Regina Walker Leadership Orientation Video Assignment 1: Prioritization and Introduction to Leadership 6. Sentinel U virtual lab simulations. Interprofessional Teams 3 hours min./80% Patient Management and Delegation - 3 hours min./80%, Email EMPOWER debrief (email to inbox) POC Advanced Medical / Surgical Care - 3 hours min./80%, Email EMPOWER debrief (Email to inbox) 7. Disaster Management Planning - Develop a disaster management plan: What are the 4 stages of the disaster management cycle? What is the nurse’s role? (Pre-disaster, during disaster, post-disaster) What can the nurse do to assist the patient/family? You may schedule your synchronous virtual debrief session when all requirements are completed. Sentinel U takes 5-7 days to post, so please be patient. Please keep in mind this course needs to be completed to ensure you meet your 2-week clinical cutoff. Questions: we needed to answer for the Debrief: Make sure you are comfortable discussing: How you used ABCDE and prioritization in your scenarios Chest tubes: why they are needed, care/management, and what to do with dislodgement or displacement Ventilator care: alarms, interventions, and VAP prevention bundles EKGs: why we use them, lead placement basics, and the difference between bedside monitoring vs. 12-lead Disaster management: START triage, stages, nursing roles, and how to educate families on preparedness End-of-life care: how care shifts, priorities, and key considerations Also, come prepared to talk through your Sentinel U scenarios. You should have notes for each scenario that include: 2–3 things you did well 2–3 areas you would improve That’s all that I have for now.
