Given we want to smack this boat into ice at each end of the planet, this was never going to do. The cause of the corrosion was a leaking galley drain when Brupeg was a trawler, the rusted deck in the galley has been replaced with new steel several years ago and was the first major steel repair we did to Brupeg when we brought her in 2014, but the hull plating was left until now. With the launch just around the corner, it needed to be done. We cut into the hull with our plasma cutter and ordered the steel needed to weld a new plate in. Three of the ribs were cut out in the process of this and will be replaced with new steel so the boat can once again return to tip-top structural condition.
