Silver-tongued Gage used the internet to meet young women who he seduced. He often posed as an airline pilot, in a ruse similar to the one used by Leonardo Di Caprio’s character in the film Catch Me If You Can. He would start a relationship then plunder the women’s bank accounts of thousands of pounds before moving on to his next victim. Police describe Gage as a Walter Mitty-type fantasist; he led a fantasy lifestyle where he actually started to believe his own lies. Gage moved all over the country conducting the same scam. We meet two of Gage’s victims who were devastated by his cruel betrayal – both had had intimate relationships with Gage, both thought they were in love and both had their bank accounts plundered. Marc Hatton – aka Alex de Rothschild – The Bogus Banker Hatton posed as a member of the Rothschild banking dynasty and left a trail of destruction from Helsinki to Albania, whose government he conned. He duped a string of lovers in the UK and USA who were taken in by his bogus upper class charms. We meet the British woman, Christine Handy, who was his downfall – conned by him out of almost a million dollars, she bore a son with him and thought she was in a committed relationship, when he had in fact at least 20 other women he was seeing at the same time. She waged an 18 month campaign to bring him to justice using a website and private detectives. She finally tracked him down in New York where he was doing the same thing to another woman whose son had become suspicious..
