Are your old concrete slabs past their prime? In this BAUHAUS workshop, Stephanie and Liam will show you how to build a modern WPC (wood-plastic composite) deck without the hassle of removing the old foundation. There are numerous alternatives, all far more attractive and practical than gray concrete. The installation technique is always the same, regardless of whether you choose local softwood, hardwood, or WPC decking. The latter, in particular, has enjoyed unprecedented popularity recently, thanks to its impressive qualities: virtually indistinguishable from (solid) wood, extremely durable, warm, and slip-resistant – an outdoor floor simply can't offer more. We use the existing slabs as the perfect base for a stable aluminum track system. They provide a perfect foundation, and the combined height of the substructure and decking usually aligns perfectly with the threshold of the patio door.
