Today, another conversation and prayer from the series "Meeting God in His Word." Przemysław Krawczak, host of the "Spiżarnia Wiary" channel, talks with Sister Joanna Nowińska, a lecturer in Biblical studies at the University of Silesia, a well-known retreat leader, but above all, passionate about encountering God in His Word. When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, learned that her son had died, she set about exterminating all the royal offspring. But Jehosheba, daughter of King Joram and sister of Ahaziah, took Joash, son of Ahaziah, secretly carrying him away from among the king's sons who were being murdered, and hid him and his nurse in the bedroom from Athaliah's sight, so that he was not killed. So he remained hidden with her in the temple of the Lord for six years, while Athaliah reigned in the land. In the seventh year, Jehoiada summoned the commanders of hundreds, the Carians, and the guards, and brought them to him in the temple of the LORD. He made a covenant with them, made them swear an oath in the temple of the LORD, and showed them the king's son. The commanders did everything Jehoiada the priest had commanded. Each took his men, both those going on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty on the Sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest. The priest then handed to the commanders the spears and shields of King David, which were in the temple of the LORD. The guards stood around the king, each armed with weapons, from the south corner of the temple to the north, before the altar and the temple. Then he brought out the king's son, placed the crown on him, and presented him with the certificate. He was anointed and consecrated king. Then they clapped their hands and shouted, "Long live the king!" Hearing the clamor of the people, Athaliah went to the people, to the temple of the LORD. She looked, and behold, the king was standing by the pillar, as was their custom, with commanders and trumpets around the king; all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, "Plot! Plot!" Then Jehoiada the priest gave orders to the captains of hundreds who were in charge of the army, commanding them, "Take her out of the temple, beyond the ranks; and whoever follows her, let him be put to death by the sword!" For the priest had said, "She shall not be killed in the temple of the LORD." They seized her, and when she entered the way where the horses enter the palace, she was put to death. Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD's people, and between the king and the people. Then all the people went up to the temple of Baal and tore it down. Its altars and idols were utterly shattered, and Mattan, the priest of Baal, was killed before the altars. Then Jehoiada the priest posted a guard before the temple of the LORD. All the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was at peace.
