An engine cooling system** manages an internal combustion engine's temperature to prevent it from overheating and ensure it operates efficiently. How It Works 1. Heat Absorption:** A mixture of water and antifreeze (coolant) is pumped through passages (cooling jackets) built around the engine cylinders, absorbing intense combustion heat. 2. Regulation: A thermostat acts as a gatekeeper. If the engine is cold, it stays closed to let the engine warm up quickly. Once the engine reaches its optimal operating temperature, the thermostat opens. 3. Heat Dissipation: The hot coolant is then routed to the radiator at the front of the vehicle. As air passes through the radiator fins (assisted by a radiator fan when idling or moving slowly), the heat is transferred out into the atmosphere. 4. Recirculation: The cooled fluid is pumped back into the engine to repeat the cycle.
