マーブリング/Marbling
DENJIRO: Please take a look at this painting. GIRL: That's a beautiful design! DENJIRO: It's a painting of a mysterious design, isn't it? This is called marbling. We'll explore the secrets of this mysterious design today. NARRATOR: We will use acrylic paint. Drip some paint on to a solution of laundry starch and water. The drops of paint are floating on the surface of the solution. Due to the surface tension of laundry starch and water, the drops of paint spread as they float on the solution. I will insert a toothpick into the surface and slowly move it. The drops of paint form a mysterious pattern without blending with one another. I will place a sheet of paper on top of it and wait for it to absorb the paint before lifting it. GIRL: What a mysterious design! DENJIRO: As you can see, we've made a beautiful painting with marbling. But isn't it mysterious? Why aren't the drops of paint mixing with one another? Let's try an experiment. Here we have clay of three colors. I'll stack them up and fold them many times. I folded them six times and rolled them into a ball. How did the colors mix in this case? Let's cut the ball of clay to see the cross section. We'll cut the ball using a thin piece of string. GIRL: What? The colors haven't mixed. DENJIRO: I've folded the clays many times to mix the colors, but as you can see, they haven't mixed. Apparently, the process wasn't enough to mix the colors of clay. The same thing happens in marbling. I used a toothpick to slowly make a design. I was able to make the design, because the way I moved it wasn't enough to mix the colors together. I hope energy will bring you all happiness. Our magic word is "Happy Energy!"
