Lawn to Food Forest - 10 - Mulch Madness!
http://www.edibleacres.org Going big on mulch and permanent garden and pathway layout. Bought in around 50 bales of local hay (unsprayed, not certified organic but natural) at $2.50 a piece and now it's the long but rewarding work of covering all grass and 'weeds' around our plantings with hay. After a good rain we'll add more mulch, and then we can arrange mulch based on where weeds pop up, playing a bit of 'wack-a-mole' to cover weeds as they come up. By fall we may very well be completely weed free and 100% garden space, at roughly .5 acres of total space! A little over $100 investment can be a massive savings in time spent weeding, time spent watering, and the boost in overall long term fertility is huge! https://www.paypal.me/edibleacres - A simple and direct way to ‘tip’ to help support the time and energy we put into making our videos. Thanks so much! Edible Acres is a full service permaculture nursery located in the Finger Lakes area of NY state.
