IDOR 2026 - EN20: Assessing Learning - What Are We Really Doing?
A recording from the International Day of Recognition - June 9, 2026 ************ Nan Travers, Credential As You Go We build assessments based on our own experiences, what matters to us, and how we were assessed. Yet, most assessments do not actually capture what people know and can do. In this session, participants will examine their inherited assessment strategies and collectively build new ways of assessing learning (through an online brainstorming activity) that captures and provides more authentic ways to share what someone knows and can do. This is an interactive session through which participants will come away with strategies for better capturing learning. TRADUCTION RAPIDE : Nous élaborons des évaluations en nous appuyant sur nos propres expériences, sur ce qui nous tient à cœur et sur la manière dont nous avons nous-mêmes été évalués. Pourtant, la plupart des évaluations ne reflètent pas réellement ce que les gens savent et sont capables de faire. Au cours de cette session, les participants examineront les stratégies d’évaluation dont ils ont hérité et élaboreront collectivement de nouvelles méthodes d’évaluation de l’apprentissage (à travers une activité de brainstorming en ligne) qui permettent de mieux saisir et de partager de manière plus authentique les connaissances et les compétences de chacun.
