This is why Alberta proposed a southern route for its proposed West Coast pipeline
Prime Minister Mark Carney and Danielle Smith on Thursday announced plans to build a new pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia’s coast as a public-private partnership. Carney and Smith said Thursday that Trans Mountain Corporation would plan and construct the pipeline and that Canada and Alberta would be “equal partners” in the project. The plan calls for the new pipeline to be built along the Trans Mountain pipeline corridor, which is federally owned and runs from Edmonton to a terminal in B.C. The two governments also committed to engaging in negotiations with First Nations in hopes of making them full partners in the project.
