rumba footwork

Latin American Dancing Tutorials. Start of the new teaching series, about the technique of the latin american dancing. This episode is about the Rumba footwork. The technique of the footwork describes the information, which makes it possible to use the feet in a way, that makes the dance, rumba in this case, look charakteristic and to fullfill the required functional demands in the optimal way. The rumba footwork is a mix of different factors, which have to be executed at the same time or one after another. This procedure is also known as coordination. A good dancer has a good coordination, which improves with growing experience of dancing , a strong focus on the coordinative movement and the diversity of the dance styles, while learning how to dance . A good footwork is as much important for beginners as for professional dancers . Which individual factors do play a role for the footwork? here is a short enumeration, which I also talk about in the video... The heel is always as high as possible. The heel aspires to always be as high as possible, what doesn´t mean that it has always the same hight. These depends on the position and the other principles. The inner ankle of the foot almost always shows in direction of the floor and is a kind of an opponent from the heel , which always aspires in the direction of the ceiling. The knee almost always shows forward and inside. The knee of the free foot is ment here. It always strives forward and never is not allowed to show outside, except in the end positions of the forward and the backward walk and the side step where it even has to be turned out. In this excercise, the free leg ist the turned out leg. By definition, the turned out leg in the forward, the backward walk and the side step is the standing leg, until there is still weight on it. Both feet are slightly turned out In the end position the free thigh and the foot turn out slightly more. "The imprint in the snow" Imagine, how an imprint in the snow would look like, if you would press the first three big toes and the inner side of the ball into the snow. Try to keep this stamp on the floor for the whole time. Exceptions for this can be the end position of the rumba walks backward and forward and the side step. The standing leg is always stretched ... The knee always works back and the quadriceps is tensed.
