Los Angeles California | Ep 85 - Ruta 66 - Santa Monica - Beverly Hills - Costa Oeste EEUU |
From Lake Powell, we headed down to Flagstaff. After a few days of wild camping in Coconino Forest, we decided we would spend part of the summer in Northern California. The plan sounded decent. We managed to make some campsite reservations, and although we knew there were no boondocking areas or overnight stays in this area, we went anyway. We had no idea that our stay and RV tour from Los Angeles to San Francisco would pose so many challenges. On the way to Los Angeles, we traveled part of historic Route 66, spent the night, and had breakfast at Peggy Sue's 50's Diner. A typical 1950s diner. Highly recommended. What followed was the frustration of not finding any available camping spots. Nothing at all. Just when it seemed like we had no other option, the TTPP community started connecting, helping us tremendously. We spent a few days at Hernán and Sonia's house, who live in the San Fernando Valley, and from there we toured Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood. Although we were close to everything, Los Angeles traffic turns any outing or trip into an all-day road trip. Finding parking is extremely difficult and expensive, especially in tourist areas. Having the experienced help of families who live there made all the difference. The truth is, we didn't spend much time visiting the city's attractions. You know that after two years of RV life, our tastes have changed a lot. We always prefer open, natural spaces. Still, we followed the recommendations of many of the channel's subscribers and stopped by the famous Santa Monica Pier, where Pacific Park is located and the historic Route 66 ends. Santa Monica Beach is wide, clean, has paved access, restrooms, restaurants, volleyball courts, bars, and is perfect for swimming and surfing. You can spend the afternoon just watching the action. After a few hours at the beach, we strolled along Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica's pedestrian street, characterized by dinosaur-shaped bushes and countless shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and more. We tried to go to Venice Beach. The traffic was already terrible, we were moving at a snail's pace, and when we finally arrived, we couldn't find parking, and since we had so much to cover, we decided to keep going. In addition to strolling, we took care of some RV maintenance and were able to attend a subscriber meetup at Zuma Beach. Stay with us because in the next episode, we'll show you Beverly Hills and Hollywood, and embark on a journey along the West Coast to fulfill our dream of traveling the epic PCH 1.
