Graduated from the Jazz Department of Osaka College of Music Junior College. He studied under Jiro Akamatsu, Hidefumi Toki (As), and George Gazzon (Ts). Since his twenties, he has performed with numerous renowned musicians, including Kiyoshi Kitagawa (B), Yosuke Inoue (B), Fumio Karashima (P), Manabu Oishi (P), Kosuke Mine (Ts), Tetsuro Kawashima (Ts), Seiji Tada (As), Yutaka Yamada (As), Akira Ishii (P), Ryojiro Furusawa (Drums), Masahiko Osaka (Drums), Eddie Henderson (Tp), and Otero Molineaux (Studs). In addition to his own group, he has participated in numerous bands, including Yoshito Eto (Drums) ANIMAL HOUSE, Hikaru Sugawara (Organ) Group, Hiroshi Murakami (Drums) Quartet, and Koichi Fujii (Vo) Group, and has also distinguished himself as a composer. He has also appeared at jazz festivals both in Japan and abroad, and in various media outlets. In 2006, he moved to the United States and settled in New York. He has since performed with Bill Saxton (ts), James Carter (ts), and Greg Bandy (drums), and has participated in recordings by reggae legend Derrick Barnett, energetically pursuing a wide range of musical endeavors. He has also pursued a global musical perspective, participating in Native African bands in Senegal and Mali. In 2013, he released his long-awaited debut album, "HAPPY SONG." It garnered acclaim around the world, and his CD release concert at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center was a huge success. Furthermore, as a saxophone jazz instructor, he has guided over 300 professional and amateur players. While his playing style is rooted in bebop, it also encompasses a wide range of genres, from modal to funk to contemporary.
