As CJ tries to rebuild the gang, he discovers that his close friends Big Smoke and Ryder have betrayed him. After his brother Sweet is arrested, CJ leaves Los Santos and rises in power across San Fierro and Las Venturas, building a large criminal empire. CJ eventually returns to Los Santos during city-wide riots, rescues Sweet, kills Big Smoke, and exposes the corrupt cop Tenpenny.
